Network Data had claimed that the original letter was defamatory.
A copy of the apology was sent anonymously to MI – News by a broker to be a Network Data AR.
MI - News was not provided with a copy of the original letter however the second letter stated:
“It had not been the intention within that [the first] letter to imply that Mortgage Intelligence considered that the services provided Network Data fell short of the high standards to be expected by their appointed representatives.
“If, and so far as Network Data or its representatives were caused offence by the letter, Mortgage Intelligence is pleased to apologise and to have the opportunity to offer this clarification.”
Richard Griffiths, managing director of Network Data, would only say: “We thought the original letter was defamatory and insisted on an apology.”
Mortgage Intelligence said it was unable to comment on either letter.
