Pinagli, who will be based at the lender's London head office, joins from Barclays, where she spent 22 years. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of FSA compliance. Her role will be to oversee all compliance matters at Mortgages plc in the run up to FSA regulation and beyond, and she will manage a Compliance team of four people.

James Mayne of Smart Compliance Solutions, who has been working with Mortgages plc as acting head of compliance in recent months, will continue in a consulting role.
