Meechan, who will be based in the company's Glasgow office, joins on 1 June and will have responsibility for all operational aspects of the business from underwriting to administration, HR and IT. He will join the Mortgages plc board and will report to Trevor Pothecary, Group Chief Executive.

Meechan's previous role was Operations Director at Clydesdale Financial Services, the retail and motor consumer credit provider, where he worked since 1987.
