The expansion of its sales team follows the promotion of Pete Thomson to sales director.
The overall Mortgages plc sales team now totals 55 positions, based regionally around the UK and in the lender’s Glasgow office. This is a major expansion since the start of the year and the lender is currently in the midst of a recruitment drive.
Beneath Thomson the team is broken down into sales and corporate development. These areas are headed up by Mark Harrison, head of sales, and Paul Fryers, head of corporate development. Both report to Thomson.
Harrison has overall responsibility for packager and broker relationships across the UK. Reporting to him are three regional managers: Nigel Robbins (Midlands), joins Mortgages plc from Kensington Mortgages, Sally Young (North), has relocated from the Midlands, where she was regional manager, and Simon Cossons (South), continues in his existing role.
Robbins, Young and Cossons are responsible for a team of 34 area managers and key account managers. The team has been increased by a number of new starters during recent and coming weeks.
Fryers has responsibility for senior relationships with corporates/networks across the UK and is also responsible for the 16-strong telephone-based intermediary sales centre (ISC) in Glasgow. His direct reports include two new roles of partnership manager, positions which are focused on building and developing relationships with corporates and networks.
Speaking about the new structure Pete Thomson, sales director at Mortgages plc, said: “It is no secret that Mortgages plc has ambitious plans for growth this year and our sales force is a key element in our growth strategy. We have placed a lot of importance on recruitment and believe that we will shortly have not only one of the largest but also the most professional sales forces in the intermediary mortgage market.
“Our research has confirmed that, although intermediaries are embracing new developments in online trading, they still value highly the ability to speak to a professional sales manager who can get things done. Mortgages plc now has excellent sales representation across the length and breadth of the country.”
