Mutual One’s Audit Services Team won the contract after the society had considered all available options.
John Whayman, CEO of Ipswich Building Society, said: “Our geographic location means that we have experienced great difficulties in recruiting and retaining audit personnel of the right calibre with the appropriate financial services skills. As a consequence, we have teamed up with Mutual One, who offer vital and valuable expertise within our sector and who come well recommended from others within our peer group.
“The move has at the same time enabled us to review how compliance and risk are dealt with in the future.”
David Charlton, Mutual One’s commercial director, commented: “We are delighted that Ipswich has chosen us and we’re confident that the society will benefit hugely from our high quality and cost-effective services.
“What the Ipswich has experienced is not uncommon in certain areas within the UK and we see this type of enquiry increasing throughout 2006 and beyond.”
