Hughes spent his entire executive career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was on the supervisory and management boards for 15 years and latterly managing partner. He also ran the audit and business advisory practice for seven years.
He has also served on the boards of Friends Provident and Companies House and is senior independent director of the FTSE-100 listed marketing and communications group Chime Communications, as well as being on the board of international law firm Simmons & Simmons.
