Previous winner reveals the pride she felt for her family business
With the clock ticking until nominations close tomorrow for the Scottish Mortgage Summit & Awards, a past winner has described the pride she felt when her family business triumphed - bringing her to tears on stage.
The search for the brightest and the best of Scotland’s mortgage industry is drawing to a close – the deadline for nominations is this Friday, March 1. So, there’s no time to waste for those industry professionals who are considering getting involved.
Returning on Thursday, May 30, at the prestigious Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh, The Scottish Mortgage Summit & Awards will recognise the vital service that Scotland’s mortgage industry provides. It is sponsored by Mortgage Introducer and its publisher KM Business Information.
How does it feel to win at The Scottish Mortgage Summit & Awards?
As a previous winner of Regional Best Broker Perth, Falkirk & Stirling, Michelle Henderson (pictured), mortgage and protection consultant at HH Mortgage Consultancy is a huge advocate for the awards.
“When we won the award in 2021, we were absolutely over the moon,” Henderson enthused. “I cried with pride on stage, it meant so much to us. We are a small family business, which my mum started 23 years ago, and to receive the recognition for our hard work was the best. To win again in 2022 was overwhelming and such a great achievement, which we are very proud of.
“These awards are extremely important. As mortgage brokers we work very hard to provide a high level of service to our clients, and to be recognised for the work that we do gives us a great sense of achievement, especially in this current climate, when it is more challenging.”
She added: “I believe it is a very strong industry with lots of talented individuals who really care about making a difference and doing what is right for their clients.”
What are the categories at The Scottish Mortgage Summit & Awards?
More than 20 categories at this year’s awards will highlight the brightest and the best of the profession, including coveted titles such as Best Overall Broker in Scotland, Broker of the Year (Regional), BDM of the Year, Protection Provider of the Year, Later Life Lender of the Year, New Brokerage of the Year and the renowned Lifetime Achievement Award. You can nominate yourself, your colleagues, or your organisation, in as many categories as you wish.
So, what would Henderson say to her industry colleagues who may be considering putting themselves or others forward for the awards.
“I’d say go for it, whether that be nominating yourself or nominating someone you feel stands out in their field,” she urged. “Being able to showcase your award to your clients is great for your business.”
The Scottish Mortgage Summit & Awards will be an amazing opportunity to gather with colleagues in a fabulous setting, and celebrate those for whom exceptional dedication and service are integral to their day-to-day roles. It provides, too, a chance to strengthen professional ties still further, through a dedicated summit to consider the pressing issues facing the industry today. The full agenda for the summit will be revealed in March.
Paul Lucas, global editor at Mortgage Introducer, said: “The Scottish Mortgage Awards is such a highlight on the calendar - we constantly hear about how so many aspects of the mortgage industry are London-centric, and so we take great pride in shining the spotlight on a region that simply doesn’t get talked about enough.
“There are so many incredible talents there, who are not only raising the bar for the mortgage sector, but who are so active in their communities too. That’s why we really want you to make your voice heard - if you know someone in the industry who deserves recognition (or perhaps you even deserve that shout-out yourself) then please get your nominations in as soon as possible. We want to bring together as many of you as possible, for the party you all deserve.”
So, don’t delay…. to find out more, and to nominate, go to The Scottish Mortgage Awards and, remember, nominations close tomorrow, Friday March 1!
