Yes, it is clear that the market is experiencing some ‘difficulties’, but the mainstream media is scaremongering, making far more of the current market situation than is actually the case.
I don’t think it would be a bad thing if house prices were to drop, and if they do, it will only be a slight change – a correction from the heady figures that we have experienced over recent years.
But we need to remember that while there are fewer properties than potential buyers then house prices will continue to rise, despite what some ill-informed commentators have suggested.
There are also a lot of people looking at their remortgage offers, and while fewer people could take the leap to home ownership, the number of people remortgaging will mean that, for brokers, the market remains full of opportunities.
Let’s focus on what the market does have, rather than what it doesn’t.
