The venture, operating out of 32 branches in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire, will help to address a multi-billion pound black hole that has developed in the region’s personal finances in recent years – and cater for the evolving needs of local people.
“We’ve spent the last two years turning The Nottingham into an organisation that is increasingly able to meet the needs of local people – and developing a new financial planning arm is a major strategic development for us,” commented Lorraine Giddings, the Society’s head of branch network.
“We have chosen to partner m2 because of its strong pedigree in this area and because both organisations share the same vision – we both believe our customers’ evolving financial needs are of paramount importance and want to do something to ensure local people benefit from excellent advice and products.”
Paul Chafer, commercial director at M2, echoed these comments: “This is an exciting opportunity for us and The Nottingham,” he said. “At a time when local people are desperate to receive access to good independent advice and products which are sourced from the whole of the market, rather than what is the ‘flavour of the day’ at their local bank, what could be better than getting support from a major building society?”
