The appointments follow N&P's advertising in the regional press to invite regionally-based, suitably experienced individuals to apply to join the N&P board
Chris Ewbank, Simon Loftus and Janet Turner will take up their appointments immediately following the retirement of existing directors Zara Hammond and Geoff Loades at the end of the Society’s AGM on 16 April 2007.

Chris Ewbank lives in Cambridge and was brought up in Bishops Stortford, attended school in Essex and went to Cambridge University. He gained a degree in Law and qualified as a solicitor in 1988. Chris worked for 14 years in investment banking with Schroders and then Rothschilds. His work focused on mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets, latterly as managing director and head of utilities & natural resources in Asia.
In 2005 Chris moved to Cambridge and became Senior Bursar of St. John’s College. He is married with three daughters.
Simon Loftus has lived and worked in Suffolk all his life. He attended Cambridge University and gained a degree in History & Fine Arts.
Simon has been a director of Adnams for 30 years and was chairman for 10 years until his retirement in August 2006. He remains a non-executive director of Adnams plc. Over the past 10 years Simon led a strategic and cultural evolution of Adnams that has made the company a model of sustainable business, winning the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development and demonstrating its environmental commitment with its new distribution centre. The building is a landmark in environmental design and has the largest ‘green’ roof in Europe. Adnams has won numerous local and national awards over the past decade.
Simon is a member of the Council of Aldeburgh Music and of the Board of 1st East (the regeneration company for Lowestoft and Yarmouth). He currently lives in Halesworth and is married with one daughter.
Janet Turner gained a degree in Law from Bristol University and was admitted to the Bar in 1979. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1996. Janet has over 25 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer. Since 1999 Janet no longer practices at the Bar, but works as a legal risk consultant, spanning the private and public sectors. She is also Counsel to the WRVS.
Janet is married with a daughter and a son and lives in Wothorpe on the Hill, near Stamford.
