The events will provide these firms with the opportunity to find out more about how the ombudsman works - in preparation for mortgage and insurance broking coming under the ombudsman's jurisdiction on a statutory basis, once regulation by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) begins for these sectors (from the end of October this year for mortgage intermediaries, and from 14 January 2005 for insurance intermediaries ).
Following a similar series of events held last year, over 250 mortgage and insurance intermediaries have already signed up on a voluntary basis to join the ombudsman, in advance of being covered automatically by law when FSA-regulation begins.
