The underwriter, based at the Genesis head office in Warmington, will oversee every aspect of the mortgage underwriting process through to the production of the final offer. This in turn will reduce turn around times and improve service levels.
Nigel Gardner, Business Development Director at Genesis, said: “On-site underwriting for our Platform business will reduce turnaround times dramatically. Brokers are going to get a much quicker completion now that we have a dedicated Platform underwriter on board.”

The move is a continuation of the strategy by Genesis to increase on-site underwriting in support of its booming branded lending business. Genesis already has on-site underwriters from GMAC RFC and Mortgages plc.
“Last year was an all time record for us, substantially as a result of big increases in branded lending, which was up by 50% on the previous year. The first quarter of 2004 indicates that branded lending will continue to be a major growth area for our business,” added Mr Gardner.
