The lender found that 11 per cent of its business was processed through electronic applications in September last year, but last month this figure had increased to 31 per cent.
Brian Pitt, director of sales and marketing at Future, said: "The increase in the volume of business submitted on the Internet has grown considerably since we established the website over a year ago. There are huge advantages to the intermediary when using the online application form. First of all, they can save their clients £50 simply by applying online, and secondly, they themselves can save money by reducing administration costs. The website allows intermediaries not only to apply for mortgages online, but also track the progress of applications."
