The L&G system allows users to obtain a quote, gain an automatic decision in principle (DIP) from Mortgage Express and then send the application online. Once sent advisers can track the progress of the case in real time.
The service allows data entered once to pre-populate all the necessary documentation for Mortgage Express before submitting requests for DIPs and full mortgage applications on-line.
Applying through the system will speed up the service as applications are submitted straight into Mortgage Express’ back office system.
The service includes a product exclusive to Mortgage Decisions.
John Cupis, sales and marketing director of Legal & General’s Mortgage Club said: "Since we launched the online version of Mortgage Decisions a year ago there has been an unprecedented amount of co-operation and development by Mortgage Express and other lenders to ensure our network of advisers is able to maximise the advantages to their businesses of the e-mortgage environment. We’re well on the way to the complete e-enablement of our Mortgage Club."
Tim Dawson, managing director at Mortgage Express said: "We have believed for some time that the Internet brings considerable opportunities for delivering a superior service to our intermediary partners. Through working closely with Legal & General we have managed to produce an online service that will deliver these benefits to the advisors and hence to the end customer. Excellent customer service through meeting the needs of those who deal with the clients is our key objective and this service goes a long way to achieving that goal."
Other major UK lenders who have launched online functions with Legal & General include Halifax, Abbey National, Alliance & Leicester and Birmingham Midshires Solutions.
