OSB Group joins the Financial Services Skills Commission

Specialist mortgage and savings bank OSB Group has joined the Financial Services Skills Commission (FSSC) as part of its commitment to advancing workforce skills and investing in technology-driven customer solutions.

The partnership aims to help OSB Group enhance its skills strategy by identifying training opportunities while contributing to the FSSC’s broader industry initiatives.

The FSSC is an independent, not-for-profit organisation representing the UK financial services sector on workforce skills. It collaborates with businesses to address talent shortages and ensure the sector is prepared for future demands.

As a ‘founder’ member — the commission’s highest level of corporate membership — OSB Group will participate in working groups focused on closing skill gaps and sharing best practices across the industry.

“I’ve been in post for almost six months now and one of my first recommendations was for OSB Group to join the FSSC as I know firsthand of the amazing work they do for the sector,” said Orlagh Hunt (pictured), chief people officer at OSB Group.

“I’m also delighted to become a board member as I’m a big advocate of lifelong learning and growth. I’m really passionate about helping individuals and teams find different opportunities to learn and upskill, so I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Claire Tunley, chief executive of the Financial Services Skills Commission, meanwhile welcomed OSB Group’s involvement.

“OSB Group, through Orlagh’s guidance, will bring a wealth of experience to the commission and our ambitious programme of work,” Tunley said. “We’re delighted to welcome Orlagh and OSB Group’s 2,000 employees to work with us, and our other members, to address the skills gap facing the financial services sector.”

The partnership with the FSSC aligns with OSB Group’s broader commitment to social impact and workforce development. The lender has also been a key supporter of Depaul UK, a charity focused on helping young people facing homelessness.

As of last month, OSB Group has contributed more than £130,000 in funding while also providing non-financial support, such as volunteering, mentoring, and career guidance since the partnership began in March 2022.
