OSB Group opens new sustainable office

Specialist lender OSB Group has unveiled a new office building in Wolverhampton, designed to accommodate 364 employees while incorporating various energy-efficient features.

The new facility consolidates staff from two smaller offices, bringing together teams in underwriting, sales, and servicing under one roof.

The building includes several environmentally friendly features. These include the elimination of gas reliance, the use of high-efficiency heating and cooling systems to reduce electricity consumption, and the installation of a SMART building management system (BMS).

The office also features LED lighting throughout, upgraded ventilation systems, and worktops made from reclaimed materials. Additionally, acoustic panels are constructed from recycled plastic bottles, and the carpets contain 75% recycled content.

“We’re delighted to welcome colleagues to their new office space, some of whom have been actively involved throughout the project,” said Andy Golding, chief executive of OSB Group. “These colleagues have helped to create an engaging working environment suiting their differing requirements as well as encouraging collaboration and creativity.

“Our teams supporting brokers and their customers throughout the financing journey, will now be under the same roof making it easier to discuss cases and promote a joined-up servicing approach which further strengthens our commitment and support to our broker partners.”

Neil Richardson, chief sustainability officer at OSB Group, said the new office is a testament to the group’s commitment to colleagues and the wider environment with the new space having been developed to a Category A standard.

“There’s been a strong emphasis on the use of eco-friendly materials throughout the project and we’ve minimised waste during construction, leading to 99% being recycled or recovered and avoided landfill,” Richardson added. “We’ve built a space that will serve us for the long term as well as minimising our carbon footprint.”

The new office includes a multi-faith room, a well-being centre, and informal meeting areas to enhance the working environment for employees.
