Between 2001 and 2002 TMB increased the number of packagers it uses from 108 to 150, an increase of 39%. Packaged business now accounts for over half of TMB's business (65%). In 1997 this represented only 3%.
Commenting on the figures, Mark Bergin, director, sales and marketing of TMB, said: "TMB is an intermediary-only lender and as such we are dedicated to working with brokers, IFAs and packagers to help them build their businesses. Packagers are an extremely important part of our business and we have worked hard to increase our distribution base amongst them, while maintaining high levels of service for intermediaries. At a time when some other lenders are reviewing the number of packagers they use, TMB recognises packagers as an important part of the intermediary lending arena."
