The appointment of Carey Shakespeare as commercial director – a new role within Park Row – comes shortly after the successful integration of Royal Liver’s advisers into a new combined salesforce which totals nearly 600 and the launch of the company’s new Practice Buy-Out scheme – which it believes is unique in the industry.
Shakespeare’s responsibilities will include acquisitions, recruitment and increasing adviser production. He will also be responsible for augmenting the company’s successful adviser development workshops by introducing additional practical sessions.
His most recent role was group marketing director at Berkeley Berry Birch (BBB). He joins Park Row with over 25 years in the financial services industry – over 15 of which have been at senior level. Prior to BBB, Shakespeare was marketing director at Inter-Alliance and before that executive director of Marketing at St James’s Place, who he was with for 11 years.
Talking about the appointment, Peter Sprung, Park Row’s chief executive, said: “This is a fantastic appointment for us. With the recent integration of the Royal Liver advisers we are one of the largest adviser firms in the UK. Carey’s appointment is another significant step forwards for us and he will help to maintain our growth. His experience in, and knowledge of, the industry are second to none. I know that Carey will be a tremendous asset to Park Row as our development continues to gather increased momentum.”
Shakespeare was equally excited: “This is too good an opportunity to miss. Peter Sprung has a tremendous reputation in the industry and I’m very much looking forward to working with him and everyone within Park Row. It’s a great company which has achieved a great deal in a short space of time – mainly because of the high quality of the company’s staff and advisers, and its commitment to development and training. These are very exciting times at Park Row.”
