Broadhurst, a very well known industry figure and public speaker, has spent a year with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) where he was the Business Change Manager and chairman of the Central Stakeholders Group for HIPs. He was seconded to the ODPM by his then employers Halifax (HBOS) but at the end of his contract within the department has decided to accept the post with AHIPP.
Mike Ockenden, director general of AHIPP, said: “It is a coup to get Paul to join the association at this crucial time. There is no one I can think of who has a better inside knowledge of government thinking and how industry stands in relation to the implementation of HIPS.
“Paul is a powerful advocate of HIPs and he is ideally placed to help the members of the association achieve their objectives. Time is short and both government and the industry have much to do to ensure the orderly introduction of this legislation.”
Paul Broadhead said: “I am delighted to be joining AHIPP. It is a significant organisation that now represents the vast majority of the leading participants in the new HIP environment.
“While working within the ODPM I was the eyes and ears of industry in government and now I shall be a critical friend to the ODPM as we represent the interests of our members. It is they who can deliver most of the objectives of the dry run, not just as HIP providers but also as search providers and conveyancers. We are in a key position to make this thing work for the benefit of the industry and the consumer.”
