Facilitated by David Shelton of Stoke Bishop Associates – the former head of IFA business planning at Clerical Medical – Lawrence Emm from Skandia or Ian Mobley from Standard Life, the 26 regional sessions will help adviser members assess the reaction of the market, clients and the regulator to adviser charging and help them consider potential refinements to their proposition.
Shelton said: “I am delighted to be part of this excellent PFS initiative. Adviser charging has been in place for less than a year and parts of the market are taking time to settle.
“Some firms are reporting a fall in revenue and some client resistance whereas others report the opposite. This is the perfect time for all firms to review and make necessary adjustments.”
Learning outcomes from these practical sessions will include understanding the application of current rules, client and market reaction, potential direction of regulations, pros and cons of different adviser charging models, revenue forecasting and how to deal with client objections.
Keith Richards, chief executive of the Personal Finance Society, added: “Incorporating FCA findings following their recent review, coupled with best practice examples from across the market, we aim to help member’s benchmark their own strategies and develop further where appropriate.
“The opportunity for practitioner interaction and peer to peer sharing at a regional level will also be built in and is as much a key part of the session.”
