‘Cash is King’ was the theme for the presentations made by Pink’s Director of Finance, Lisa Hurley, who commented; “It is one of the roles of a network, to help their ARs, in the current market conditions. There is an increasing request for cash flow planning as the volumes of sales are not at the same level as 2007 and commissions get squeezed. Over the past few years, planning has become some what relaxed as high business levels were maintained, but now more than ever, there is a need to go back to basics and dust off the old accountancy skills.”
During the seminars Hurley advised the Pink ARs how best to keep a record of their incomes and outgoings and offered useful tips about what can be done when money is looking particularly tight. “Planning is the best thing that can be done when it comes to managing cash flow,” she said. “Look to see when cases are expected to complete, in other words when the commission is due, and when bills need to be paid out. If a shortfall is predicted, think about the steps that can be taken to manage the flow.”
AR of Pink, Richard Martin, Principal of Keypoint Mortgage Solutions based in Sheffield, comments; “The presentation gave me lots of useful ideas and points to consider, some of which I had not previously thought about. Booking time out to plan properly is now a definite priority for me and I’m confident it will provide me with a clearer picture of what I need to focus on going forward.”
