The managing director of All Types of Mortgages (AToM) succeeds Ian Nelson, who has led the packaging alliance since its inception in 1999. He has relinquished the role to concentrate fully on his job as CEO of Unity Homeloans.
Jon O’Brien, operations director at the PMPA, will remain in his role and work closely with Jannels going forward.
Jannels said: “I am delighted to accept the role of chairing the PMPA and I would like to pay tribute, on behalf of all the members of the PMPA, to the outstanding job that Ian Nelson has done in putting the PMPA firmly on the radar of lenders and mortgage introducers alike. Like him, I am proud of the many successes of the PMPA including, of course, the formation and launch of Unity. There are a number of challenges facing our sector of the industry, not least of which is in the area of technology.
“Together, with all of my colleague members of the PMPA, I look forward to finding ways of meeting these challenges and keeping the PMPA at the leading edge of the packaging sector.”
Nigel Payne, managing director of The Mortgage Business (TMB), welcomed Jannels’ appointment. “He has been a fundamental part of the PMPA from day one. He’s well respected within the industry and is very knowledgeable so he is a logical choice to step up to the chairman role. However, I don’t think the PMPA’s strategy will change much as Jannels has been a driving focus within the business for so long.”
