There is also a possibility that in the future their remit will be expanded into other areas of intermediary finance including general insurance.
The new combined sales team is headed by Paul Howard, associate director – group intermediary sales, and is based at Portman’s head office in Bournemouth. The 12-strong team will cover the whole of the UK.
Commenting on the move, Paul Howard said: “The new team structure means IFAs have one person to talk to for the full range of Sun Bank and Portman mortgage products. Portman offers prime mortgage products whilst Sun Bank’s range of non-standard mortgages include self certification, buy to let and complex prime. The shared knowledge pool of the two combined teams will make our service even more comprehensive.”
Sun Bank’s move to Bournemouth is part of its customer service strategy to support the strong anticipated growth in sales, and provides access to more processing staff, to ensure it maintains service on an ongoing basis.
