As a sole broker, it is hard enough finding and completing business. With the technical gobbledegook that is spouted by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) about advertising, I am scared of promoting my company.
Sure I can see the point in ensuring that all of the information is correct and the regulator should crack down on any firm flouting the rules, but to demand certain font sizes and phrases leaves me, let alone consumers, completely flummoxed.
An accepted industry standard or template for Financial Promotions would go a long way, especially for smaller firms and although this would probably rid firms of part of their individual stamp it would definitely mean that I would be able to advertise without fear of FSA comeback.
