The relevance of this term has never been more than a tradition stemming back to original building society terms of over 100 years ago. With people living longer, many buying on their own with no dependents, and mortgages now being on a daily rate of interest and allowing overpayments, do you not think that statistics should be different? Times change, and so do people and their requirements – please at some stage start to at least acknowledge this.
