I too have been contacted by automated dialling machines for mortgages and have no idea where the company got my telephone number.
Typically the regulator says it can do nothing without further details, but what further details are needed? Clearly names are being generated by lead generation firms who are breaching FSA rules in order to make a fast buck. I am not interested in taking out a mortgage, so I have no idea how my name got onto any cold-calling list – it certainly wasn’t of my own volition.
Is this not a sign that the lead generation industry needs to be regulated as a matter of urgency and be subject to the same checks as those of us that already are? Why should these firms be getting away with things the rest of us have been banned from practising? It needs sorting, and fast.
