Major lender puts intermediary teams under new leadership
Santander UK has announced the appointment of Graham Sellar (pictured) as its head of intermediary channel.
Effective Monday, July 8, the high street lender’s intermediary teams will report to Sellar, whose role has been expanded from his current position as head of mortgage business development, a role he has held since 2020.
As Santander’s head of intermediary channel, Sellar will have additional responsibilities that include oversight of all field-based and telephone-based intermediary teams, alongside his existing duties in key account management.
Sellar will be supported by Helen Harrison, who will continue her daily management of the intermediary teams in her role as head of intermediary distribution. Sellar will also work closely with Lynsey Mitchell, head of direct channels, to ensure alignment with Santander’s overall objectives in the homes division.
Sellar, who brings nearly 30 years of experience in the mortgage sector to his expanded role, emphasised the importance of broker relationships to the bank’s operations.
“Relationships with brokers are vitally important to Santander as a major UK mortgage lender,” Sellar said. “I’m pleased to have this opportunity to support all the teams who interact with brokers on a daily basis and to find ways in which we can continue to build strong relationships for the benefit of all our customers.”
Santander said its decision to streamline its intermediary operations under Sellar’s leadership reflects its commitment to strengthening broker relationships and enhancing customer service in the mortgage market. The move is expected to provide a more cohesive approach to intermediary services, aiming to improve efficiency and collaboration across the bank’s various teams.
