Senior executives leave Skipton

SKIPTON SAYS GOODBYE TO TWO

EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

In what is a memorable occasion for Skipton Building Society, 2006 will see the mutual bid goodbye to two of its directors – Alan Scotter and Ron McCormick – as they take early retirement to focus on different business opportunities.

Clocking up 45 years with the Society and its Group between them, in a number of roles, their most recent positions have been as group commercial directors. Through their work with the Society and its 16 subsidiary companies, they have played a major part in steering the Group to its place as one of the most profitable mutuals in the sector.

Alan Scotter has been with Skipton for 29 years and has risen through the ranks, from branch manager to regional manager, followed by general manager sales & marketing and sales & marketing director, before taking on his current role in 2002.

Ron McCormick joined Skipton via its subsidiary, Homeloan Management Ltd, where he was finance director before taking over as managing director. Moving to the Society as its finance director in 1993, he also became group commercial director in 2002.

Chief executive, John Goodfellow, said, “Both Alan and Ron have been an integral part of the team which has seen a dramatic turnaround in the Society’s fortunes. During their time on the board, assets have grown 300%, the number of subsidiaries has grown from two to the current 16, and the Society has become the most profitable organisation in the sector. We shall all miss their words of wisdom and wish them a healthy retirement and profitable time in their new adventures.”
