When policyholders were asked what they thought insurers could do better just 12% named price, the third most popular response behind having peace of mind.
Half of consumers meanwhile would like to get all their insurance from one provider.
Brian Coulton, national sales manager of Source, said: “The fact that consumers appear to be saying that they wouldn’t mind paying a little bit more for peace of mind should be music to brokers’ ears.
“It’s difficult to see how direct insurers and the aggregators can accommodate this. The only way for consumers to get what they’re looking for is through a broker or some other form of intermediary.
“We all know that the best way to run a business is providing customers with what they want in a way that works for them.
“If brokers get this right, then the chances are that they’ll be able to sell far more than just the mortgage and the associated ‘must have’ insurance covers.”
