The award was presented at a ceremony attended by nearly 1,000 people at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 5 May 2005.
John was recognised for his lifetime of achievement in the building society industry and for his role in setting up Leeds-based credit reference agency Callcredit, one of the credit industry’s rising stars.
Launched four years ago, Callcredit has quickly established itself as one of the UK’s leading credit reference agencies, making use of the latest web-based technology to bring increased competition and value into a marketplace previously dominated by just two major players.
John McAndrew, Callcredit’s managing director, who nominated John Goodfellow for the award, said, “John’s vision and entrepreneurial approach in setting up Callcredit is having a major and continued impact on the credit industry. He is a very deserving recipient of this accolade.”
