The Society, which already lends in the province through its subsidiary, Amber Homeloans, will offer its products to borrowers through mortgage brokers, estate agents and financial advisers.
Paul Darwin, head of intermediary sales at Skipton, said: “Skipton has won numerous awards for its service, so we wanted to extend this to Northern Ireland. With a good supply of buyers and a plentiful stock of modern housing the market is strong – and should certainly remain so for the foreseeable future. Most of the networks of mortgage brokers we deal with already have a presence in the area so this was the next logical step for us and ultimately, the borrower can only benefit from the greater choice of products.”
Skipton’s intermediary sales manager Dave Forrest, who has an extensive background on lending in Northern Ireland, will be in regular contact with brokers to offer Skipton’s dedicated underwriting service, with a free valuation and legal fees on most remortgages.
