The Retirement Review Service helps them prepare while the Online Retirement Planner gives them an indication as to their current readiness.
Customers can also get pensions analysis and advice through the financial advice subsidiary Skipton Financial Services.
After listening to more than 2,600 customers and non-customers the building society launched its retirement service, which has the new strapline ‘Skipton – For Life Ahead’.
Over a period of 18 months Skipton found that two in five customers say they are underprepared for retirement.
Ian Cornelius, commercial director of Skipton Building Society, said: “Never have people had a greater need of expert help and guidance as they shape their plans for retirement.
“There isn’t really any one place on the High Street where people can go for an approachable, holistic and friendly service which cuts through the confusing jargon surrounding things like pensions and helps them to build a clear and achievable plan for their life ahead.
“Retirement is becoming more complex by the day, and changes like the new pension rules announced in this year’s Budget present both opportunities and challenges to ordinary people trying to prepare for their future.
“That’s why we’ve stepped in, in partnership with our own financial advice subsidiary, Skipton Financial Services. We want to tackle the issue of planning for retirement head on and are making a significant step in that direction.”
The launch campaign features retro typewriters, with Skipton inviting people to overcome their ‘writer’s block’ and start penning their all-important ‘next chapter’, sharing their stories, hopes and dreams.
