The four other associations testing the scheme are L&Q, Riverside, Sovereign and Thames Valley, covering parts of London, Liverpool, West Oxfordshire and Guildford.
People living in South Norfolk who have been public sector or housing association tenants for 10 years or more can register their interest to participate.
Brandon Lewis, housing minister, said: “Thousands of housing association tenants have shown interest in taking up the extended Right to Buy and this pilot is great news for helping many people in South Norfolk achieve the dream of owning their own home.
“This one nation government is determined to make the dream of buying a home a reality for tenants so as many people as possible can enjoy the security and stability that comes from owning a home.”
The renewed Right to Buy scheme, as set out in the Housing and Planning Bill, should give 1.3 million tenants the opportunity to buy their own home.
The government will double the housing budget from its current level to over £2bn per year in 2018 and 2019 with the aim of providing 400,000 new homes by the end of the decade. This will include 200,000 starter homes, 135,000 Help to Buy Shared Ownership homes and 10,000 Rent to Buy homes.
