Dorman will be responsible for developing business and relationships for the mutual’s intermediary and direct distribution channels.
He was previously key account manager at ING Direct and has over 20 years experience in the intermediary mortgage market.
James Bawa, chief executive of Teachers Building Society, said, “We have a strategy for strong, steady growth over the next decade which includes increasing net lending and our market share.
“Colin’s appointment supports this strategy and our commitment to the intermediary channel, following our re-entry 2 years ago. It’s also very timely, as we are about to launch an extended product range.
“We are confident that our niche lending to the teaching profession and Dorset area, together with the excellent level of service we provide, is an effective mix to drive new business and we’re delighted that Colin has joined the Teachers team.”
Dorman spent 23 years at Nationwide Building Society, latterly at UCB Home Loans as national sales manager.
More recently he was business development director at Connells Survey & Valuation prior to joining ING Direct where he helped to elevate the business to top 10 lender status before its sale.
