The panel was set-up to represent smaller regulated firms and to advise the FSA on its policies regarding financial regulation.
Bawa is an advocate of diversity in financial services and has been at Teachers for nine years. His second term as a member of the FSA’s Regulatory Decisions Committee is coming to an end this November.
Bawa said: “I’m delighted and proud to have been appointed to represent the building society sector on the FSA’s Smaller Businesses Practitioner Panel.
“Teachers plays a vital role in the education sector and local community and I am well aware of the impact of regulatory changes on organisations such as ours.
“I hope that my experience will add to the Panel’s expertise and that I can help to express the views of similar organisations in financial services.”
