Half of the 204 brokers surveyed cited this change was, in part as a result of realising the potential in technology for servicing regulatory requirements, while 76% said that they recognised that technology could help in improving general business standards.
Furthermore brokers seemed to favour technology in the office, rather than for when they are on the move or in clients' homes. Just over 90% of brokers use broadband and 73% use desktop computers in their day to day business, while only 22% use wireless connections and only 3% use blackberries to keep in touch with their emails. The survey also showed that 94% of brokers submit, track and progress through to completion at least some of their mortgage business.
Martin Reynolds, head of sales, BM Solutions said: "It's really positive news that the vast majority of brokers realise the potential of technology to enhance their general business performance.
"Over the next year, as lenders systems develop, it will be interesting to see if more brokers embrace mobile technology to make their business more flexible."
