When it comes to original ideas to raise money for your football club, then AFC Telford United have come up with an unusual idea which you would literally put your house on.
During the home game with 11th place Prescot Cables, the UniBond League announced an initiative with the West Bromwich Building Society, inviting supporters to take out mortgages with the Society, and in return, earn money for the Club.
For every 10 mortgages the fans take out, West Bromwich Building Society will pay the club £1000. The Club’s overall aim is to raise £10,000 of much needed funds by the end of the season.
As Jenny Cartwright, branch development manager, West Bromwich Building Society, said: "Telford is and continues to be a rapidly developing part of the country. Although we only recently opened a branch in the area, we have been constantly aware of the vast potential that both this town and football club have. We believe this unique initiative will offer the fans a super deal on their mortgage and earn AFC Telford United much needed revenue at the same time. Everyone wins."
