The scheme means mortgage intermediaries will have one direct point of contact for the mortgage case, right up until its completion.
Commenting on the initiative, Nigel Payne, managing director of TMB, said: “We have been piloting the case ownership scheme for about a month now. A packager or intermediary submits an application and when the payment route has been set up by us the application goes to the pilot team. It is then this individual that deals with the case, all the way through, so brokers and packagers know exactly who to speak to about the case.”
He added: “This is a rare occasion where everyone wins. Packagers and brokers like the fact that they are dealing with one person throughout the case, and efficiency is greatly enhanced, with the time from application to offer better than the main process we have in place.”
Alan Lakey, senior partner at Highclere Financial Services, welcomed the scheme and said it would bring benefits to intermediaries. He said: “I think it is an excellent idea. With most lenders you have to speak to lots of different people telling them the same information. One point of contact would make it a lot easier to deal with the lender because the person would know about the case and its in’s and out’s.”
Sheridan Bradley, mortgage adviser at Lodemead, added: “I think it is good that TMB is giving a single point of contact. People do need, and appreciate, that personal touch.”
Wood confirmed that TMB was currently in the process of looking at ways to extend the pilot scheme.
