Together appoints Rowntree as new CEO

Together Financial Services has appointed Richard Rowntree (pictured) as its new chief executive and executive director, effective from early 2025.

Rowntree, who brings over 30 years of banking experience, joins the specialist property lender from Paragon Bank, where he served as managing director of the mortgages division. He previously held senior roles at Bank of Ireland, RBS, Santander, Lloyds TSB, and Halifax.

His industry involvement includes chairing the UK Finance mortgages product and service board and serving on the boards of Estuary Housing Association and Progress Together. In 2023, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London for his work promoting socio-economic diversity in financial services.

Rowntree will succeed founder Henry Moser, who will transition to the role of executive vice chairman.

“I am excited to announce Richard as my successor as CEO, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary,” Moser said. “I look forward to working closely with Richard as we enter the next stage of our exciting growth story.”

Mike McTighe, chairman of Together, also welcomed Rowntree’s appointment, noting that his extensive experience would strengthen the lender’s executive team.

“I am confident Henry and Richard will form a great team to take the group forward,” he added.

Commenting on his appointment, Rowntree said he looks forward to taking the non-bank lender to the next level, “leading its continued success.”

In business for half a century, the specialist lender employs more than 750 colleagues from its Cheshire headquarters and has a loan book of £7 billion, as of the third quarter of financial year 2023/24. Its personal and commercial finance products include residential mortgages, short-term finance, buy-to-let, commercial and semi-commercial mortgages and loans, auction finance, and development funding. The lender also successfully priced a £445 million residential mortgage-backed securitisation (RMBS) recently – its third RMBS transaction this year.
