Barbara Legg, director of Barbara Legg Associates, claimed that she has had consistent problems with the sourcing system, with incorrect information put on it. Completing an application for a Beacon product, the application fee was stated on the sourcing system as being £999 when it was actually 1.5 per cent, which pushed the fee up to £3,000.
Legg claimed that the firm admitted its mistakes but was unprepared to offer any compensation for the clients or the company. She said: “This is absolutely scandalous, the lender has been inundated as to how it could have happened.
“We have so many problems getting through to people, as there is an 0870 number but if you call through to the main number you just get diverted back to the 0870.”
With the application made for the client, Legg claimed that they were at an advanced stage and had done the Key Facts Illustration, yet had to be charged for the application and were now on a different product with a higher rate.
Legg said: “We understand that everyone makes mistakes in life but Trigold just doesn’t seem to care. We have got to the stage where we are going to lenders’ websites and printing the details, and going to the clients with that – while still paying for Trigold’s service.”
Further problems were found with a Halifax product, with which the rates were changed, yet Legg said Trigold took four days to publish the new figures.
Bill Safran, chief executive officer of Trigold, said: “We work very closely with lenders to ensure the highest possible level of accuracy.”
