He's tasked to grow the specialist bank's short term lending business
A specialist bank has announced a new director of bridging, with a mandate to significantly grow its short-term lending business.
United Trust Bank (UTB) appointed Sundeep Patel to its bridging division, which has significantly increased its new business volumes in the last 12 months.
It followed the introduction of new services such as FastTrack and the implementation of technology to empower brokers and accelerate bridging applications.
Patel (pictured) has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. He was most recently director of sales and a member of the commercial executive committee at specialist lender Together, as well as in charge of its intermediary channel.
Earlier this year, the bank refreshed its non-regulated bridging proposition with enhanced criteria and created a team of underwriters and case managers specifically tasked with accelerating non-regulated bridging proposals.
UTB said the move was widely welcomed by brokers, leading to a significant uplift in new business enquiries.

Patel said he was excited to get to work at UTB and looking forward to meeting the whole bridging team.
“We have exciting plans to kick off as we set out on a journey to make UTB the first choice for all bridging finance,” he enthused. “I was delighted to see that UTB picked up another award for its regulated bridging offering. We plan to win awards in every category at every awards next year. Our aim is to be recognised as the best bridging lender in the market – full stop.”
Mark Stokes, chief commercial officer at United Trust Bank, said he was delighted to have Patel join the team.
“Owen Bentley and Nikki Brett have been outstanding in maintaining bridging’s momentum and delivering a superb performance,” he said. “I am confident that Sundeep, Owen, and Nikki will be a strong and successful team, leading UTB’s bridging business to the top of the table and achieving our long-term objectives.”
