First-time buyers were especially active in 2014, advancing 12,100 loans valued at £1.3bn which represents an increase of 14% in volume and 20% in value.
Remortgage lending was more subdued, as there were 12,800 loans totalling £1.3bn, as volumes fell by 13% and total loan values fell by 7% from 2013.
Homemover activity was steady, as 14,000 loans were advanced worth £1.8bn, up 4% and 11%.
In the fourth quarter of 2014 first-time buyers took out 3,200 loans (unchanged from Q3), homemovers took out 3,700 (down 3%) and remortgages took out 3,200 (up 3%).
