Lazenby joins from HSBC where he headed up its mortgage and protection operations in the London region and boasts more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry.
Prior to his stint at HSBC, Lazenby worked at Nationwide, Montague Capital, Wesleyan Assurance Society and had a 13-year spell at Standard Life.
Lazenby’s appointment coincides with a further 25 advisers that are scheduled to join Which? Mortgage Advisers in the coming weeks, taking its total number of advisers over 60.
The business intends to grow to 80 advisers – and a total workforce of 120 – by the start of 2014, a significant expansion from the initial pilot two years ago.
Although expanding in Bristol in the first instance, Which? Mortgage Advisers is keen to attract mortgage advisers from across the UK.
Ian Lazenby, head of sales at Which? Mortgage Advisers, said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Which? Mortgage Advisers at such an exciting time, and when the organisation is growing at such a rapid rate.
“Which? has a long established reputation for trust, independence and impartiality and I look forward to seeing this ethos in action and working to get a better deal for consumers on their mortgages.”
Mike Lawton, managing director at Which? Mortgage Advisers, added: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Ian’s calibre to our growing team of dedicated advisers.
“We ensure that anyone joining Which? Mortgage Advisers understands our ethos and the things that set us apart from others in the industry – like paying our brokers salaries rather than commission to ensure they remain completely impartial and independent.
“Ian has a keen understanding of our mission, and I’m looking forward to him helping us make a real difference for consumers.”
