AMP Bank recruits Arnott to lead digital division

AMP Bank has appointed John Arnott (pictured above) as director of small business and personal banking, with responsibility for leading the bank’s new digital banking division, scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2025.

Arnott joins AMP Bank from WooliesX, where he led customer growth initiatives for the e-commerce platform. His previous roles include senior leadership positions at Commonwealth Bank as head of retail bank marketing, Facebook as industry lead for financial services, and ING as chief customer officer and director of products.

“John is a highly experienced, proven leader,” said Sean O’Malley, group executive at AMP Bank. “We’re delighted to have him join the AMP team as we get closer to the launch of our new digital bank in the new year.

“His skills and experience are a perfect fit to lead the new digital division, having had success in transforming and growing B2C organisations, and leading customer, marketing, digital and product portfolios.”

Arnott, who began his new role earlier this week, shared his enthusiasm for AMP’s strategic direction.

“I’m thrilled to join the AMP Bank team as it enters an exciting new phase of growth with the launch of our new small business and personal banking proposition in 2025,” he said.

“One of the main reasons I joined AMP is because of its clear vision to support Australian small businesses, who are currently undersupported by the banking industry. I believe our new digital solution has the potential to make a meaningful difference to the success of both small businesses and personal banking customers.”
