ANZ appoints Magnus as national partnerships manager

ANZ has announced the appointment of Ben Magnus (pictured above) as national partnerships manager, retail broker.

Magnus brings over 15 years of experience across mortgage broking and banking, with expertise in business development, sales leadership, operations, and risk management.

Before joining ANZ, he was head of mortgage broking at Empower Wealth, a brokerage partnered with AFG. Magnus has also held leadership positions at NAB and CBA/Bankwest, where he developed strong industry relationships and delivered significant results.

Reporting to Natalie Smith, general manager, retail broker, Magnus will oversee ANZ’s aggregator relationship engagement in his new role, focusing on national strategies to drive mutual opportunities for ANZ and its aggregator partners. He will also work with internal operational teams to ensure consistent service delivery, align business priorities, and enhance ANZ’s presence in the mortgage broking sector.

“Ben brings a diverse range of experience built from over 15 years in the third-party channel,” Smith said. “He will be a valuable addition to the retail broker leadership team as we deliver on our strategic priorities into 2025 and beyond. His strong leadership skills will complement our business and foster the growth of our valued aggregator relationships.”

“I’m excited to leverage my experience to further enhance ANZ’s retail broker value proposition, focusing on consistent service, innovative service offerings, and robust relationships with aggregators,” Magus said. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented ANZ retail broker team to drive the continued growth and success of this business.”

This appointment follows the recent announcement of Nuno Matos as chief executive of the ANZ Group, effective July 3, 2025.
