BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.
How often do you see brokers in a week?
I visit 10-12 brokers per week plus 2-3 phone calls per day.
What do broker want most from you?
I ask brokers this question frequently and they simply want me to be there when they need help. And in my own words, brokers want quick responses, solve problems, and provide detailed feedback on complex loan scenarios.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I really enjoy working with small businesses and working with brokers who are all very different and diverse, which makes the role both challenging and satisfying.
What distinguished the best brokers you deal with?
The top brokers tend to have a strong support network in their office and are always looking for ways to improve their business, whether it’s lead generation, loan submission quality, time management etc.
Describe your ideal weekend.
Along with my fiancée (Hannah) – we enjoy taking our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks to Glenelg Beach, hit of Golf and either visiting a winery in Adelaide Hills or McLaren Vale.
What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I see unique loan scenarios every day, however the strangest, would be a request to finance Persian rugs...
How do you like your steak done?
Medium rare with rosemary & garlic roast potatoes
Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
