19th annual Canadian Mortgage Awards – what you need to know

The stage is set for a dramatic and exciting night in Toronto on May 1

19th annual Canadian Mortgage Awards – what you need to know

It’s always a momentous day in the Canadian mortgage calendar, an opportunity for mortgage professionals from across the country to gather in celebration of the industry’s finest – and the 2025 Canadian Mortgage Awards are just around the corner.

Returning for their 19th year on May 1 at the Toronto Congress Centre, the CMAs are still open for registration, so make sure to sign up and secure your spot for what’s sure to be one of the most unforgettable nights of the year.

The CMAs have long been an industry-leading event in Canada’s mortgage space. Walking up to accept an award in front of 100s of industry peers is a testament not just to the winners’ outstanding achievement over the prior 12 months – but also the dedication and perseverance to their craft throughout their entire career in mortgages.

It's little surprise that each category is so fiercely contested. Some of the leading names in Canada’s mortgage industry are up for top awards this year including high-performing brokers, trailblazing brokerages, service providers at the cutting edge of innovation, and lending executives who’ve been at the top of their game this year.

Here’s what’s in store on May 1

As always, the night will begin with a cocktail reception before the glitzy awards ceremony and dinner banquet, at which the winners from this year’s batch of Excellence Awardees across 25 prestigious categories – including the brand-new Broker of the Year (Reverse Mortgages)  and Innovator Champion of the Year.

Dynamic five-piece band Soulfire will then take to the stage – and attendees to the dancefloor – to lead the post-award celebrations.

Past winners look back on an unforgettable moment

Clinching a Canadian Mortgage Award is a memory that winners don’t forget in a hurry, particularly because of the strong competition they overcome to claim the award. That’s not to mention being recognized in front of scores of industry peers, a career-affirming moment for any winner.

Last year, Lending Niagara – Mortgage Architects’ Carey Benvenuti, who won the RFA Award for Excellence in Philanthropy & Community Service, described the “overwhelming” feeling of being recognized for her extensive philanthropic endeavours throughout her career.

Alberta Broker of the Year Max Singh, meanwhile, said his victory was the high point of a career in mortgages that’s spanned 20 years. “This is purpose, and this is what we do,” he said. “It’s nice to have the recognition. There are thousands of families that we help get inside homes, and I won’t forget this.”

It can also prove a big boost to a mortgage professional’s business and reputation within the industry. Just ask Chelsea Bedard of Mission 35, who won the Young Achiever of the Year award last year. “I have it posted on social media and as part of my email signature so when people are working with me, they know that they’re working with someone the industry has recognized,” she said. “[It’s] something that sets me apart.”

The big day is drawing nearer – and there’s still time for you and your team to sign up for a memorable night of drama and entertainment in Toronto.
