A transaction’s success rate also increases dramatically when a broker is involved
Nearly nine out of 10 consumers who worked with a broker in buying or selling a home during the first half of 2021 expressed satisfaction with the services they received, according to a survey conducted by Léger on behalf of the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers.
The satisfaction rate of sellers and buyers who used a broker for their transactions was at 89% and 88%, respectively. The success rate of transactions for sellers who retained the services of a broker was at 89%, up by 4% from the previous edition of the study two years ago.
Chief elements of what makes a broker so effective include familiarity with the laws and regulations related to the sale of a property (90% of consumers), obtaining the right price (83% of buyers, 89% of sellers), thoroughly explaining each step in the process (86% of buyers, 84% of sellers), and providing effective guidance/advice on the transaction (82% of buyers, 86% of sellers).

“We are delighted with these very positive results, especially since they were obtained in the context of an overheated real estate market which has increasingly challenged many buyers and sellers,” said Denis Joanis, president and CEO of the QPAREB. “This shows that brokers effectively carry out their role as advisors and that clients are fully aware of the many advantages of having a broker support and guide them when buying or selling a home.”
