executive vice president and chief operating officer
Kimberly Johnson joined Fannie Mae in 2006 and was part of the company’s most testing time during the wake of the 2008 economic crisis. In this period, she was involved in leading the company back from the brink in roles of increasing responsibility – from vice president of capital markets to senior vice president of the company's multifamily business unit to chief credit officer to chief risk officer. In March 2018, she was appointed chief operating officer, tasked with leading technology, data, enterprise models, operations, the enterprise program management office, and resiliency. She partners closely with business units and the enterprise innovation team to focus resources on innovations that have the potential to enhance the company's business model, support the execution of strategy, and evolve the housing finance system for the better. Johnson is also a member of Fannie Mae's leadership team. Before joining Fannie Mae, Johnson was a director at Credit Suisse, where her responsibilities included financial institution fixed-income sales coverage of hedge funds, money managers, and US government-sponsored entities. Earlier, she was a US equity trader at D.E. Shaw & Co. Also named in Mortgage Global 100 list 2019, Johnson holds a BA Economics degree from Princeton University, and an MBA in Finance and Economics from Columbia Business School.
