Stonebridge appoints Bailey as first chief technology officer

Mortgage and protection network Stonebridge has named Mark Bailey (pictured) as its first chief technology officer (CTO), a move aimed at strengthening its tech-driven approach to support its appointed representative (AR) firms.

Bailey joins Stonebridge from Board Intelligence, where he served as engineering director. His background includes building and leading engineering teams at Sainsbury’s Technology, overseeing global fraud technology architecture at Barclays Bank, and managing engineering and commercial strategy at Rightmove.

Stonebridge said Bailey’s appointment underscores its commitment to investing in technology to support its network of mortgage and protection advisers.

In his new role, Bailey will oversee Stonebridge’s proprietary software platform, Revolution, as well as the network’s in-house development team located in Milton Keynes and Basildon.

According to recent industry research, Stonebridge saw the largest increase in AR firms joining its network in the first half of 2024, a sign of growing demand for its technology and commercial offerings.

Bailey’s appointment is part of a larger recruitment push at Stonebridge, which has recently added several industry experts to its team, including Stevie Berry and Oliver Couchman as national recruitment managers and Daniel Darby as the network’s first protection account manager.

“Our culture, our focus on our member firms, and our strategic vision are proving to be strong draws not only for network members but for some of the best talent in their respective fields,” said Rob Clifford, chief executive at Stonebridge.

“Mark’s credentials, passion for continuously improving the customer experience, and achievements at the likes of Barclays and Rightmove are second to none. He is a real team player, and I am delighted that he is joining our ever-growing team of exceptional talent.”

Commenting on his move to Stonebridge, Bailey called it “a privilege” to be part of the network’s ongoing growth.
